British Prime Minster David Cameron has bought Prince William and Kate Middleton a book on Wales as a wedding present. The politician - who will be attending the couple's nuptials at London's Westminster Abbey – says, “He wanted to get a gift that meant something to the couple so chose a book on Anglesey, the island where the newlyweds will live while William works as an RAF search and rescue pilot.”
He told
CBS News, "William is currently serving in Anglesey, which is a small island off the coast of Wales where he does search and rescue, flies a helicopter.
I've got him a present to do with Anglesey.”
"It's a lovely book and beautiful photographs and things like that. So that's what I'm giving."
While the prime minister has bought a gift, William and Kate have asked their guests to make donations to charity instead of giving them extravagant presents because they are conscious of Britain's current economic troubles.
A source explained, "William and Kate are acutely aware that in these difficult times being seen to take a luxury honeymoon would not look good and send out entirely the wrong signal.”
"Neither has lavish tastes and a domestic location is ideal to ensure they are secure."
